Hawaii: Day 4

Today we went on a Safari Boat Excursion! This was definitely a major highlight of our trip. It was a day long excursion that went around the island of Lanai.

On our way over to the island, there was a wrecked ship. Apparently, there was a fleet of these ships being used. But, when bigger better versions were built all the captains were told to sink there ships into deep water to get rid of them. One captain refused because he was so proud of his ship, so instead he sank it where would always be seen.

We saw a Hawaiian Monk Seal. There are estimate to be only about 1,200 left of this species.

We stop to snorkel at three different spots. This place had a lava tube underwater that you could swim through.

Most of the island we saw looked like this, thousand foot cliffs and bright blue water.
Towards the end of the day we came across a pod of about 300 Spinner Dolphins. They were just popping up all over the place. I have 4 more videos like this one. It was amazing!
